During independence movement at various points of time, many organisation from pre independent India had collaborated with British. During many internal wars, Dalits of from this country had supported, participated and contributed British against Indian kings and emperors, so much so that at some point Dalit had to argue against independence itself. Gandhiji and congress whole heartedly supported British in world war 2 where Bose and INA was fighting against British. (One should not forget that Bose in his eager to defeat British collaborated with worst autocrats in human history - Tojo and Hitler). Communist party did work against quit India movement. 

All these acts had historical relevance and rational reasons to do so. The arguments against Savarkar in this article is completely myopic and manipulative. Of course Savarkar developed and precipitated communal agenda during his later part of life, but that doesn't call for a myopic view of his contribution to Indian independence struggle. This is no different from RSS's attempts to pitch Nehru against patel, Nehru against Bose and so on and so forth
